1) I wouldn't have suggested this if it didn't work ...
2) If something sticks to the left, the obvious thing is to look for "float: left". OK? So the first you should have tried was to remove the float (in stead of assuming that the image was fixed).
3) Then you would have discovered that you need "display: inline-block"...

The only interesting thing about this is why they use "float: left" in the first place. The answer, as always, is the bad CSS/standards support in IE.

Well I read and tried for hours this evening............... :(
You are right with the float thing. I was distracted by all those peculiar background coding lines.
But I managed to get it working nicely in Firefox and IE8.
[[ratingscore]] also works on lower IE versions but that's because there is only 1 star.gif involved and there is no javascript working to color the 5 stars.
Earlier versions of IE are a big pain in the butt. I read several articles which all revolve around the fact that you have to switch to display:inline in stead of inline-block.
You have to make sure that haslayout is considered to be on by IE.
So I found the way to code this within the html, also in the css (after the original coding) using zoom and other parms.
But to no avail. It looks that will only work for elements that are natural inline. And a form is not considered like that.
If the way [[star]] works wouldn't be a form then it would probably be already working too......
But it's a form. So I have to ask you, being the expert :mrgreen: , to try your luck with the form and input combination.
Only if you find this a challenge....... :D

What did I change in jquery.rating.css?
Code: Select all
.star {
/*   float: left; */  /* commented out */
   display: -moz-inline-box; /* added for FF 2 and lower */
   display: inline-block; /* added */
   vertical-align: baseline; /* added */
   width: 17px;
   height: 15px;
   overflow: hidden;
   text-indent: -999em;
   cursor: pointer;
.starrating {
   display: -moz-inline-box; /* added for FF 2 and lower */
   display: inline-block; /* added */
   vertical-align: baseline; /* added */
   width: 85px; /* added */
   height: 15px; /* added */
   overflow: hidden; /* added */
   cursor: pointer; /* added */
BTW I used the tool IEtester for the older versions of IE.
Hope you can make some sense out of what I wrote.
Quality is in the detail of things............

Where can the [[star]] extension be found? Is it (almost) the same as the [[pivote]] extension?

-update- Found it!
