Gallery and rss

Postby verbaljam » Sat Aug 21, 2010 8:55 pm

When I add a picture gallery to an entry with the gallery extension, the pictures do not show up in the rss feed, like the the other 'normal' pictures do.
Is this how it's supposed to be or is there a solution for this?

Hi,

No, the images from the gallery do not show up in the RSS feed. No easy way around this, either. :-)

Hmm, this is not good... Not good at all... ;-)
It decreases the functionality of the Gallery plugin within Pivot considerably. Many people read weblogs from rss nowadays. Also my emailsubscriptions are derived from the rss-feed.

Since RSS (by design) is not allowed to have scripting, it'll be hard to make the gallery somewhat functional in a feed. Small thumbnails would link to the large images without context, or if i were to embed all alrge images in the feed, your feed would get unreasonably heavy.

Besides, there has to be _some_ reason click through to your site, right? ;-)

Yeah, right... ;-)
But then they have to know that there are pictures to be viewed. Isn't an automatic link possible, for instance: 'More pictures in the gallery on the site' ?
