DivexMenu

Thread for the DivexMenu extension: http://extensions.pivotx.net/entry/60/divexmenu

This snippet creates a menu which is accompanied by a div.
One menu and one div. Each menu item has its own div content which will appear when hovering that one specific link.
Quality is in the detail of things............

is it easy to use thumbs of a gallery instead of a menu??

[[ divexmenu element="menu" ]] displays the menu element

->>> changing into

[[ divexmenu element="thumbs" ]] displays the thumbs element

So you would get a gallery with thumbs and on the mouse over the original image displays in the other div element..

However the extension was not build with that option in mind, it is a great idea.
So I did not try or test it (yet) but there is a reasonable chance that it might work.
Basicaly the jQuery script responds to mouseovers over an(y) anchor in a tag with ID 'divexmenu_menu'.
So from that point of view, all you need is
Code: Select all
<div id="divexmenu_menu">
<a href="something">whatever</a>
</div>

Where div can be replaced with any block level element.
I will try it myself tonight or tomorrow and I'll come back to you here.
(And if it doesn't work with this version, I'll keep the option in mind for version 2, because the idea is great)

[edit]
Btw, the tag [[ divexmenu element="thumbs" ]] is not available yet of course, but I'll test if it goes together with an existing gallery option in PivotX.

Of course it's not a pretty way to do it, but what I thought works: It works as long as you use <a>nchors and put them in a block level element with id "divexmenu_menu".
You have to make sure that the option 'Amount of menu items' in the configurationpanel corresponds with the number of anchors in your div or ul.

For instance, what I did was using the following code:
Code: Select all
<div id="divexmenu_menu">
<a href="#">this is a test</a>
<a href="#">this is another test</a>
[[popup file="testimage1.png" description="(thumbnail)" align="left" ]]
[[popup file="testimage2.png" description="(thumbnail)" align="right" ]]
</div>

[[ divexmenu element="div" ]]

This creates 4 anchors in a 'divexmenu_menu' div, so I changed 'Amount of menu items' to 4. And it worked the way it should.

However I recommend to do this directly in the template and not in the content/PivotX backend. Because PivotX wraps all content in <p> tags. And blocklevel elements inside <p> tags breaks your HTML validation.

I will try to figure out if, and how I can implement this in an eventual new version. However this can be a little more complicated than I thought, because the extension is basically created to make menu's. Creating galleries is another cup of tea.
