Fancybox and Media Extension

Postby RaVlaNa » Sat Jan 25, 2014 3:39 am

I seem to have an issue with both these extensions.
When I use Fancybox to post a Youtube video, there (in spite of me following advice) is no "Close window" button on the video (the "X" on the top right to close the window), this does not bother me, I know I have to press Escape to close the window, but visitors who are not aware of this might sit there wondering how they close the video, and maybe leave the blog altogether.
Yet, when I post a popup image, the close button does appear.

Then, with PivotX Media, when I post a Youtube video, the Full Screen button does not respond to clicks,so the video has to be watched in the size it is placed on the blog.

Any suggestions, anyone?

Thank you.

No suggestions yet................ First please post 1 problem per item.......... Discussion will get distorted......

Fancybox doesn't show close buttons intentionally for Youtube and Vimeo (it does for Flash).
I seem to remember (I updated it to use different kind of profiles) that the display of the button distorted the display of the video.
You could try to put it in an iframe because that also has a close button.
Currently you cannot set the detail options just select a profile.

The media extension has indeed problems with full screen. I do not know whether this ever worked. I will try to investigate if I have some time.......
Quality is in the detail of things............

OK,
Thank you.
Sorry about posting 2 issues.

I have noticed that the only option is to use an iframe, copied from Youtube itself.
(For the benefit of other users: the iframe must be enclosed in <p></p> tags or it will just display text).

The embed method (as above) is the only one that allows all functions to work.

Thanks.

Did you try to use the iframe together with the fancybox iframe type?

If there is a need for it then I could investigate whether an additional parm to set the closebutton could be included.

No.
I just pasted the iframe as given on Youtube into my entry, enclosed in <p></p> tags (won't work without).
In other words, completely separate. not combined with any functions from the extensions.

Would it be possible (perhaps for others) to also try this through the fancybox iframe type?

I did it using this code:
Code: Select all
[[popup description="A webwindow" title="Google" fb_type="iframe" url="http://www.youtube.com/v/GrIwoGjvkUI"]]

In the post it said "A webwindow" (as you would expect) and when that link is clicked, a popup opens with the Youtube video palying, it even has a "Close" button. ;)
However, the "Fullscreen" button is once again not responding.
Hope that helps.

I will leave the post on my blog for a little while so you can check.
It should be the first post, titled "Test".

I will check it. If you use youtube through fancybox type youtube the full screen works so I guess there will be some small difference in settings here....

I had this isuue with media extension. You can try this way:

open file: ...pivotx/extensions/media/snippet_media.php

find the line

Code: Select all
$media_config['youtube'] = <<< EOM

Just below there is a line like this

Code: Select all
    var params = { wmode: "transparent" }

Change this line in

Code: Select all
    var params = { wmode: "transparent", allowfullscreen: "true" }

Then empty PivotX cache, reload a post with a youtube video and see if it works.
Hope that helps.
