Is this something different than the already existing Syntax Highlight extension?

You did have a look at some pointers for new extensions on http://book.pivotx.net/page/3-1?

Yes, it is different from Syntax Highlight extension.

"Highlight.js highlights syntax in code examples on blogs, forums and,
in fact, on any web page. It's very easy to use because it works
automatically: finds blocks of code, detects a language, highlights it. "

Its use is simple:
Demo: http://codigoeprosa.6te.net/?e=8&previewtoken=3a4129a519bc03e9def9e07cf0080aef

Code: Select all
<pre><code>
 body, td, pre {color:#000; font-family:Tahoma, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; }
  body {background:#FFF;}
  body.mceForceColors {background:#FFF; color:#000;}
  h1 {font-size: 2em}
  h2 {font-size: 1.5em}
  h3 {font-size: 1.17em}
</code></pre>

Do you want to submit it as an official extension?
I should add that development on PivotX has stopped for a while now. Only bugs are looked at right now.

If you want to submit it I could have a brief look and check your code to see whether it works correctly and whether it follows the rules we've set.
If it passes that it will be added to the official extension site.
