Education time slide deck problem?

Hi,

I installed the education time theme - but the slide deck is displaying every picture vertically, i.e. not correctly.

I have noticed that pivotX finds an older php version on my server, 5.1.6, not 5.2 - would this be making a difference to the slide deck display?

Cheers,
s

No, it has nothing to do with the php-version or anything like that.

You say the image is shown vertically? What actually happens is that the slider has a container for the image. This container is 735 x 360 pixels big. The idea is that the images should have this size. If the image is bigger, only the top left corner will be shown. If it is smaller, it will be shown in the top left corner of the container and the rest of the container will be blank.

You can off course edit the theme, but it depends on what you want to do and which kind of images you want to show. One solution might be to change _sub_gallery.tpl like this:

Code: Select all
<!-- ####################################################################################################### -->
<div class="wrapper row3">
  <div id="featured_slide">
    <!-- ####################################################################################################### -->
    <dl class="slidedeck">
      <dt>Primula</dt>
      <dd><img src="[[ upload_dir ]]education-time-slides/slide-1.jpg" width="100%" height="100%" alt="" /></dd>
      <dt>Chaberki</dt>
      <dd><img src="[[ upload_dir ]]education-time-slides/slide-2.jpg" width="100%" height="100%" alt="" /></dd>
      <dt>Gentiana</dt>
      <dd><img src="[[ upload_dir ]]education-time-slides/slide-3.jpg" width="100%" height="100%" alt="" /></dd>
      <dt>Hydrangea Macrophylla</dt>
      <dd><img src="[[ upload_dir ]]education-time-slides/slide-4.jpg" width="100%" height="100%" alt="" /></dd>
      <dt>Hyazinthe</dt>
      <dd><img src="[[ upload_dir ]]education-time-slides/slide-5.jpg" width="100%" height="100%" alt="" /></dd>
    </dl>
  </div>
  <!-- ####################################################################################################### -->
</div>

That way the images will be resized to fit the container. But it also means that the proportions might change.

You may also edit featured_slide.css. E.g. maybe you could make the images show in the center of the container and give the container a background color?

However, as long as you only show the same images, IMHO it would be a lot easier to edit the images to give them the desired size of 735 x 360. It may be something else, if you want to let the slider show images from extra imagefields in selected entries or something like that. But in that case you would have to edit _sub_gallery.tpl and probably also the css anyway.

Most likely an issue where jQuery is not loaded. Try to set 'always_jquery' with a value of 1 in advanced configuration, or post an entry with a popup image on the front page (this will include jquery automatically).

Oh yes, sorry, I misunderstood :oops:

You mean all 5 pictures from the slider are shown one above the other?

Yes that happens, when JavaScript is not working. You will also see it, if JavaScript is disabled in the browser.

Thanks all,

I'm a little out of my depth, but as far as I can tell Javascript is working [safari], I didn't try the j_query always on. Ultimately, I've gone with modifying the Phoenix theme, and will let you know when that's up and running.

Cheerio,
