centering div

Postby gwbonline » Tue Sep 02, 2008 10:27 am

In Firefox all looks fine: http://www.cv-de-kleibakkers.nl/afbeeld ... 9&size=150

You can see that the photo's are in the middle of the website. But when I view this page in IE6, all content (including the logom but not the menu) is positioned left of the screen.

What could be the problem here? I played with the align, margin, padding and so on, but it didn't help.

It's probably because you opened a <div> tag, but didn't close it.

The validator seems to point in that direction as well: http://validator.w3.org/check?verbose=1 ... size%3D150

I would check your HTML, and fix the missing </div>. If it then still misbehaves, I'll check again. ;-)

Closed the div, but this didn't solve the problem...

The validator tells me there's one error left. I played a bit with xml decleration, but that didn't solve it to.

The validator has one problem, because of this:
Code: Select all
<!--
   Design is not what you see, design is what you feel.
-->

the line with "<?xml version=..." _must_ be the first one in the document, so you need to change the order a bit.. :-)

One problem less...

Thanks. Removing that line solved it!

I'm at work right now and I see that in IE6 the photo's are still on the left and not in the middle. Yesterday we solved this for IE7. I don't get it anymore. How is it possible that it's not working fine in IE6?
