Themes

This may be a silly question - but after reading the new blog-entry, I wonder if the themes for Bolt and Pivot 4 will be the same?

Oh yes, and by the way - does this mean that PivotX 3 has been dropped?

Not exactly, but they will be quite similar. They will both be Twig templates, and a lot of things will be done in the same way.

The main differences will mainly be because of the different functionality of the tools. For example, Pivot 4 will have 'views', not unlike Drupal has. To get the content in a view, you'd do something like:
Code: Select all
{% loadview foo = "bar/blabla" with { bla: 'bla' } %}
{% for fooitem in foo.htmliterator %}
 ( .. do stuff with {{ fooitem }} )
{% endfor %}

While Bolt doesn't have views like this, you'd use simpler constructs to get content:
Code: Select all
{% setcontent foo = "bar/latest/3" %}
{% for fooitem in foo %}
 ( .. do stuff with {{ fooitem }} )
{% endfor %}

So, yes they are similar, no you can't just put bolt templates in pivot 4 and expect them to work immediately.

Correct, there will be no PivotX3. We were working on it as a continuation of PivotX2, but we decided it was time for something better, so we started over from scratch.

To help with Twig, there are some excellent tools available.

For myself, I've installed Sublime Text 2 (http://www.sublimetext.com/2) with the Twig bundle (https://github.com/Anomareh/PHP-Twig.tmbundle) added on, and it will highlight twig tags and stuff. Makes it a lot easier to code.

Not trying to plug any products here, just trying to be helpful.

I'm also a fan of Sublime Text. :-)
