bolt/users/edit/ was not found on this server

Postby dbrooke0830 » Mon Aug 11, 2014 4:06 pm

Hello, second install, first was successful, this one I'm having trouble with.

This is a local development install on OS X Mavericks.

I'm receiving a an error upon first hit with my browser (FF) to the site (before setting user info, after configuring the config.yml file)

--------------------------
404 not found
<absolutePathToSite>/bolt/users/edit/ was not found on this server'
--------------------------

When I look at the local MySQL database, it does not look like bolt created any tables (empty set).

Suggestions?

Sincerely,
Donovan

i am newbie to bolt cms. I don't know exactly happened with your bolt site. But may be this will help you

1. Yaml (.yml) is indent sensitive. So check your config.yml again.
2. Bolt is using SQLITE by default. Have you configured database using Mysql?

Hi, thanks for the response... triple checked:
Code: Select all
database:
  driver: mysql
  databasename: <dbname>
  username: <uname>
  password: <pass>

I've set up the database locally and can log in via the shell.
show grants for '<user>'@'localhost' looks good I think:
Code: Select all
+---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------+
Grants for cadmin@localhost
+---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------+
GRANT USAGE ON *.* TO '<user>'@'localhost' IDENTIFIED BY PASSWORD '*<HASH>'
GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON `<dbname>`.* TO '<user>'@'localhost'
+---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------+

I'm using the default .htaccess.. I thought that may be the issue, but I don't know much about it.

Thanks,
Donovan

Re: bolt/users/edit/ was not found on this server[SOLVED]

Postby dbrooke0830 » Tue Aug 12, 2014 3:32 pm

This turned out to be an apache config issue for the Apache build for OS X Mavericks (probably Lion as well).

Basically, I was trying to install a local development platform on my OS X Mavericks machine in the ~User/Sites Directory. The problem here is that the DirectoryIndex directive in the httpd.conf was pointing to a different directory tree and something in the bolt (rewrite) system was using that directive.

My solution was simply to move my dev dir tree to /Library/WebServer/Documents/ instead of using /Users/<user>/Sites/

I could have probably kept the dev in the later dir with some additional apache config, but that seemed like more work.

Anyway, the supplied default.htaccess file works fine in Mavericks.

I should also mention that there are a few things that need done to install Bolt onto Mavericks Desktop.
- MySQL installation
- Uncomment and config PHP
- Unique soft link so that PHP can see the /tmp/mysql.sock file.
- and this issue above.

Anyway, all seems to be working at this point.
