How to use a forwarded host name?

Postby RiCK » Wed Jun 20, 2012 11:23 pm

I purchased the domain: http://www.TheMusiciansBlog.net/,
which is forwarded to my hosting space at: http://homepage.nhvt.net/drgnmstr/PivotX/,
I would like the blog to use this URL "http://www.TheMusiciansBlog.net/" when creating page links,
instead of: "http://homepage.nhvt.net/drgnmstr/PivotX/", is this possible with a setting somewhere?

Example:

I would like this:
http://homepage.nhvt.net/drgnmstr/PivotX/?p=links

To become this:
http://www.TheMusiciansBlog.net/?p=links

Did not test but maybe you can set the value of canonical_host (see configuation parms) to your desired value?
Quality is in the detail of things............

No, canonical host doesn't work like that.

You need to write an extension that modifies all URLs generated by PivotX. Maybe the Multisite Transparent extension can give you a hint about how to do it. (I don't have time to write the code for you - at least not for free.)

I tried that already before posting, and it didn't seem to do anything. At least nothing helpful. Any other suggestions?

Thanks,

I'm good with code, but new to PivotX, is there a code reference I can find for PivotX?

How much would you charge to write an extension for me?

The development documentation is incomplete, but you might learn something by looking at part 3, "Writing Extensions for PivotX", in our documentation.

If you are good at coding, I guess you should be able to adopt the extension I linked to. Anyway, I could do this simple job for 20 Euros.

The Documents seem very incomplete, some chapters entirely blank..
So like $25 USD? I'd be willing to do that, can you accept PayPal?
