No sufficient rights to change files in template folder

Postby Gryts » Wed Jul 04, 2012 1:22 pm

I'm in the dark... Suddenly I cannot change my templates anymore. It says in the bottom of the page: "Je hebt niet voldoende rechten om een bestand in deze map te uploaden/dupliceren. Gebruik je FTP programma om dit te doen." (Something like: "You don't have sufficient rights to upload/duplicate a file in this folder. Use your FTP application to do this.").

I have not changed anything, but did notice that my hoster, SoHosted (http://www.sohosted.com/) does not support CHMODding anymore, because they have set all file rights to 777 (!) automatically. This is because they have 'Windows Hosting' or something. (Dutch readers: http://www.sohosted.com/helpdesk/faq/vr ... oord=chmod). Does this have any influence on PivotX, besides making it a lot less safe probably?

Otherwise, I don't know what could be the problem...

Have you checked the settings mentioned in the Dutch explanation?
Code: Select all
U kunt schrijfrechten op uw website zelf aan en uitzetten via het kopje 'Website Instellingen' in het HELM Control Panel.

And if you look at the files through FTP what chmod setting do they have?

I have checked the settings, everything seems to be 777 as seen with Transmit. With the script http://www.uwdomein.nl/sohosted-chmod.asp I can also see what file rights every file has (read and/or write) and change it manually, file by file. Everything on my server is 'read+write' right now.

CHMODding with my ftp app does not work.

What I don't understand is why PivotX does not work - everything is 777, so that would be all right, would it? Or do I need to 'chmod' the folders differently in a mysterious Windows Server way?

Try Filezilla http://filezilla-project.org/.

And did you also check/chmod the folders? Everything in templates (including the templates folder itself) should have chmod 777.

Hi, I have the same problem. Installed today the latest version of PivotX and suddenly no access anymore to the templates! CHMODding also does not help, everything is now set to 777 but I still get the same message as TS.

Since we don't use Windows servers ourselves, there might a bug in PivotX related to permission checking in this case. If I could get FTP and PivotX access, it should be very easy to test (and fix, hopefully).

Another option is safe-mode: Please check if safe-mode is enabled on the server - read our documentation.

I have found my solution in leaving my hoster. I never had any problems of this kind while building other websites (during ten years) and I don't feel like messing around with these things, so I moved to a Linux-based hoster :)
