Cannot upload image

Postby eazy » Sun Nov 25, 2007 10:16 pm

When I try to upload an image in my entry, I get this message: an error occurred in the upload: try again later (the imagefolder is chmodded to 777)

Where exactly do you get this? I'm guessing when uploading an image to put in an entry (as opposed to the 'manage media').

What browser are you using? Is flash and javascript enabled? Recent version of flash?

@Bob: Yes, manage media works fine( i.e. I can upload a file but not insert it in an entry; only when I manually insert the image tags) I'm using Flock (flash and javascript enabled; Recent version of flash)

I haven't tried it with flock yet, but since it uses the FF rendering engine i don't see why it shouldn't work

It's added to the tracker: http://pivotlog.net/tracker/view.php?id=377

I'll see if I can figure it out, or if I need help testing. Will let you know in this thread.

I see that the error occurs somewhere in the uploader.. Could you please edit pivot/includes/uploader/handlers.js, and go to line 114:

Code: Select all
alert("An error occurred in the upload. Try again later.");
this.debugMessage("Error Code: " + error_code + ", File name: " + file.name + ", File size: " + file.size + ", Message: " + message);

Now, change these lines to:

Code: Select all
alert("An error occurred in the upload. Try again later.");
alert("Error Code: " + error_code + ", File name: " + file.name + ", File size: " + file.size + ", Message: " + message);

This way it'll popup two errors if it goes wrong. If you can post the contents of the second one, it might give me a clue where it goes wrong.

Some other things to look out for:
- What kinf of file did you try uploading? Have you tried an .jpg as well?
- Isn't it too big? try with a few hundred KB's max.

@Bob: I uploaded just a small jpg, 350x250 pix approx.
-I changed the code, and got only one (and the same) message 'an error occurred in the upload: try again later'

Did you clear your cache after changing the javascript file? I'm guessing your browser still has the old file. ;-)
