A few preliminary questions about converting from WP to PX

This is one...I'll probably have several...

IN the directions where we are advised to backup our blog, it says: "Make a backup of both the files (using FTP) and the Database (with a tool like PHPMyAdmin)..." Now, in my experience, backing up WP has been a simple matter, there's a few easy things that we do and then you press a button and Presto, in a few minutes it produces this big XML file with everything on it. I've successfully transferred my data from WP.com to WP.ORG this way, more than once. Wouldn't that big file have everything necessary for a transport over to PivotX?

Well, technically, yes..

Practically, euhm, sort of.. :-)

currently our WP-import script reads a WP database, and then converts the entries to Pivotx, but it should be possible to import from an XML as well. If you could send me the file, i'll gladly write an import script for it.

Note: doing this will _not_ convert your templates. This might seem obvious, but i thought i'd mention, just to be sure.

Yeah, no problem there, I'm not worried about that.

I have the xml file ready and tried to attach it to a private email msg. But it just "sat there" trying to load but nothing happened. Maybe the file is too large? It is 4.5 MB. I have a file splitter that would divide it up into smaller pieces...
