Any plans for a bug fix release?

Postby xzjia » Wed Sep 30, 2009 2:51 am

Just wondering since there's been tons of bug fixes issued, and it's getting a bit unmanageable to apply the patches while making sure the installation still remain stable (not introducing new bugs / avoiding unstable nightly builds).

Sometimes strange error crops up making you wonder if there's conflict between bugfixes.

It might be a good time to release a new stable release with all the latest bugfix applied, no?

Yeah, yeah - we should have made another release long time ago.

For people applying patches, I recommend looking at http://pivotx.net/files/unstable-development/ PivotX-latest is updated at least once every day ...

That could do, but I'm mostly thinking of having a thoroughly-tested release to use as a "base". So you can point to the code-base and say "that is definitely bug-free, so I must be doing something wrong to have broken it".

There is no such thing as bug free - sorry.

I spend most of my time fixing bugs so 99% of the time pivotx-latest is the most bug free thing. (If you also download the "pivotx-latest.txt" file, you keep track of which version you got.)

Yeah, I'm aware of the fact it won't be 100%, I'm mostly referring to bugs that leading to crashes.

But anyways since it turns out that the "unstable" branch isn't so unstable after all so I'll do as suggested.
