People,

is there an option to totally disable the commenting system?
So, dont allow comments being placed, but not showing the option to also?

To be more specific: if you;re using the 'Skinny' default template, go to your entry_template.html, and delete this part:
Code: Select all
               <div class="commentblock">

                  <p>[[ commcount ]]</p>
                  [[ comments ]]
                     <div class="comment">
                     %anchor%
                     <img class="gravatar" src="%gravatar%" alt="%name%" />
                     <div class="comment-text">
                      %comment%
                      <div class="meta">%name%, %email% %url% - %date% %editlink%</div>
                      </div>
                  </div>

                  [[ /comments ]]
               </div><!-- .commentblock -->

               [[message]]

               [[commentform]]

Also, delete the following from frontpage_template.html:
Code: Select all
[[ commentlink ]]

Don't forget to disable commenting in the configuration too - uncheck the "Allow comments by default".

PS! You are aware that for entries with comments disabled, you don't have to make any edits to the templates. (None of what Schop suggested is necessary unless you have many existing entries that you don't care to edit.) You can alter "Allow comments" in the right menu on the edit entry screen.

No, it should not. (For existing entries you must disallow comments for each entry.) The only thing that is displayed, is existing comments.
