Nice filenaming?

On different places in different coding and/or extensions there are filenames displayed.
Recently Hans has added a function in which the filename in question gets processed to a name that can be nicely displayed. Hence nicefilename.
This revision was introduced in a totally different discussion so I felt obliged to create this new post.
Not only to make you aware of this revision but also so we all can point at coding and/or extensions that can use this extra function. If Hans can find the time he'll introduce this feature into the coding and/or extensions that are mentioned here.

Right now this feature is implemented in:
[[ gallery ]] -
media extension -

[[ popup ]] can also use this feature whenever no description is delivered. Currently nothing is displayed when you click on the file or mouseover it. When using description="(thumbnail)" without any Alt value also nothing is displayed. Maybe the use of nicefilename can offer something here?
Something similar is the case with
[[ user field=image ]]
[[ image file=xxx ]]

The recently added feature of [[ gallery_image ]] could be extended with something like attr=nicefilename so you can customize what you want to display for the title. Another feature could be to set the title and alttext to nicefilename if there was nothing specified for those parms when added to the edit gallery.
