Single entry as frontpage?

Postby Gooly » Thu Apr 08, 2010 7:24 am

Is there a way to use a single entry, including all comments, as the index of the website?
The reason for this is that I want a possibility for visitors to respond directly on the frontpage of the website. Kind of 'guestbook like'. I thought about creating a single post, dedicated for that purpose. (PivotX has the 'comment function' aboard, so why not use it) But than I have to find a way to publish that single post with it's comments on the frontpage. But I have no clue how to do this or even if this is possible.

Yes, just create a weblog where the frontpage template has a subweblog which only displays one entry. Inside the subweblog tag (that you are using in the frontpage template) you can use all/most tags that you normally use in the entrypage template - like [[commcount]], [[trackcount]], [[comments]], [[trackbacks]] and [[commentform]].

NB! This requires using PivotX revision 2561 or newer. It will be part of PivotX 2.1.0 beta5/RC or you can grab PivotX Latest from http://pivotx.net/files/unstable-development/ now.

PS! If you are using HashCash, you need to replace [[self]] with [[link hrefonly=1]] in templates/_sub_commentform.html.

Great! I'll grab the correct version and do it this way.
Thanks!

As a (perhaps) easier alternative, just make a _Page_ that you want as the frontpage, and set the configuration so that that page is displayed as the homepage.

No, you are correct: Pages do not allow for comments.
