scheduler.php Vs cron

Postby ilvalle » Tue Apr 27, 2010 8:28 am

Hi,
I run pivotx in a very small environment.
The page takes long time to load and I saw that a lot of time is spent by scheduler.php.
Can be a better solution disable the scheduler for a normal 'visit' and run it through a cron job?

If you want to check, enable firebug and visit www.masia5.it

thanks

Read about the hidden setting dont_run_scheduler in the documentation.

Very interesting thanks!
I think that it is an important performance thought and hence it needs an own place in the configuration panel.

Maybe, but we are afraid of adding even more buttons ...

PS! scheduler.php isn't run at every page load for a site with some traffic. Some settings from inside scheduler.php:

Code: Select all
$scheduler['frequency'] = 5*60; // Run every 5 minutes, tops
$scheduler['duration'] = 5; // Run 5 seconds, tops
