Media Manager problems

Postby docman » Sun Apr 13, 2008 12:33 pm

Hi, MM give this feedback to me (superadmin):

"Manage Media
Filename Description Filesize
You're not allowed to upload/duplicate files in this folder. Use your FTP program to do this. "

Is it a file access problem or an intended feature?

Thanks for any help.

It's some kind of permission problem. Need more info to tell what, since I assume you have followed the install instructions and have made the images folder writable... (PivotX only suggests FTP to be helpful.)

Hello there,

I have excacly the same problem at 'Manage Media'. But not only at the sub menu 'Manage Media' but also 'Templates' and 'Explore Database Files'

Templates
Filename Description Filesize
You're not allowed to upload/duplicate files in this folder. Use your FTP program to do this

and

Explore Database Files
Filename Description Filesize
You're not allowed to upload/duplicate files in this folder. Use your FTP program to do this.

I use the flat files db and the a Windows 2000 Advanced Server or a Windows 2003 Web Edition webservers (hosted by Vevida.nl) I have given all the folders and sub folders the writing permissions equivalents to chmod 777 / 755 / 666

Uploading images and rebuilding index files works perfect

Hope I've given enough information to solve this problem.

Thanks

PivotX is using the standard PHP function is_writable to determine if the directories infact are writable. There isn't much we can do about that. However, you could try the following minimal script:

Code: Select all
<?php
$dir = 'db';
if (is_writable($dir)) {
    echo "$dir is writable";
} else {
    echo "$dir is NOT writable";
}
echo "<br>perms: ".substr(sprintf('%o', fileperms($dir)), -4);
?>

Put it in a file called test.php in your pivot folder, and open it in your web browser. What do you get? If the result is incorrect, contact your hoster - maybe upgrading PHP would help. (What PHP bersion do you have?)

The script you posted runs correct in the pivot folder:

db is writable
perms: 0777

But not in any other folder e.g. the db sub folder in the pivot folder. If I put the script there it generates an error message

My PHP Version is 5.2.5.
Server: Windows NT NET3-NL-IIS-49 5.2 build 3790

I also run Pivot version 1.40.4 on the same server with the same PHP version. And here I have no problems with media or file management.

Thnx
