Spam in trackbacks

Postby kangoo » Tue Oct 26, 2010 2:15 pm

Hello,
Is there a way to mass-delete trackback spam? I have an entry that has more than a thousand trackbacks from spammers, so it will take quite a time to delete them one by one.

No, unfortunately there isn't yet. Are you using flat files or MySQL? If you're using the MySQL version, you can easily delete them from the DB using a tool like PHPmyadmin:

Code: Select all
DELETE FROM pivotx_trackbacks WHERE target_uid=1234

With '1234' being the UID of the entry with the spam, of course.

Note: always be sure to make a backup of your DB before you do things in phpmyadmin!!

Unfortunately, I am using flat file database.

Old Pivot had a nice spamsweep feature, it would be good to have it in the future releases of PivotX, too. Or at least system that lets user to mark all the bad trackbacks with checkbox and delete them with one button.

I have some blogs with about 100 posts at single blog
at each post - 500-600 spam trackbacks, so at one blog I have 50.000 spam trackbacks
how I can delete all trackbacks?
all blogs use flat-files database

The normal answer to batch spam removal is the PivotX Tools extension. However, that extension only removes spam comments (since I don't use trackbacks anymore). However, you probably can use my old Batch Spam Remover. (Put the script in the pivotx folder. First log in to your
PivotX, and then open the script in your browser.)

Hi, I am still using old PIVOT. I would appreciate, if you would send me the file http://pivot-weblog.svn.sourceforge.net ... e-spam.php. I was not able to find it anywhere.
What I exactly need is to filter out everyting appart from the first 10 comments from every entry. I think it can be simply using the changed code of the batch-remover-spam.php.
Thanks a lot.
