Does spam count as visitor

Postby PvC » Fri Oct 19, 2012 12:35 pm

I always find quite a lot of entries in my spam log, so the spam protection does work fine.

But I have wondered if these automated actions also count as a visit/page load for Google Analytics etc? Or are they somehow automatically excluded in the process?

Automatic spam is executed in a way that doesn't run JavaScript (which is required to be counted by GA). However, manual spam (human spammers) will be counted as visitors since they use a normal browser.

Thanks Hans,
sometimes a human slips through because he/she can answer the trick question But that is not very often, most spam gets directed to the spam log with the wrong quiz answer.
I'm really glad they don't count as a visitor
