Hi, I would like to insert a subweblog into an existing templa element. I may miss it, but cannot find in the backend panel where could I create a subweblog.

Thanks.

Subweblog usage is explained in the docs. Let us know if they don't answer all of your questions.

Is my understanding and experience correct, that a subweblog is created by placing "[[ subweblog name="Name of this subweblog" ]] " PivotX-tag in the page; no separate action at the backend is needed?

After putting the subweblog tag in your template you would then need to go to Administration » Weblogs » Subweblogs and tell it which categories to publish, the number of entries and the offset (if required).

Selecting categories in the backend (to me at leaset) did not prevent other categories getting published in a particular subweblog.

However, specifying the categories in the subweblog tag itself, did the job, as:

[[ subweblog name="frontpage" category="frontpage1,frontpage2,frontpage3" order="desc" ]][[ literal ]]
<div class="entry">
<h2><a href="[[ link hrefonly=1 ]]">[[ title ]]</a></h2>
<h3>[[ subtitle ]]</h3>
[[ introduction ]]
<p>[[ more ]]</p>
</div>
[[ /literal ]][[ /subweblog ]]
