Pivotx as CMS

Postby snooze » Wed Aug 12, 2009 3:19 am

I am intrigued by the mention in the Documentation concerning the use of Pivotx as CMS much in the same way as Wordpress. Since this is not documented yet, I hope there are some who can share their techniques and resources for achieving a website with a mix of static and dynamic elements.

At work we do this a lot. There are a lot of things you can do to make PivotX work as a nice CMS, but it'll take some time to write proper docs for it. In short, some tips:

- Think about the structure of the site: What will be 'newsitems', and what will be the more static contents, such as 'about' and 'contact'. The first bunch will be entries, the latter will be pages.

- The [[pagelist]] is very nice to make menu's of pages with

- use the [[ include ]] for parts of code, you need more often than once: headers, footers, sidebars, stuff like that.
