Entries displayed partially after upgrade

Postby kangoo » Thu Aug 02, 2012 5:42 am

Hi,
I just upgraded from PivotX 2.2.5. to 2.3.3 (I'm using flat file db) and no entries in the front page are displayed. When I go to some particular entry, I get its title, tags and comments but not the entry text. I see entries in dashboard, they are complete, but even if I open any entry in editing mode and click 'Preview' button, I only get the title, tags and comments.

It is unlikely that the problem is with templates. I exchanged my old front page and entry template with the default ones, and the result is the same.

What could be the cause of this?

Thanks.

I've got the same behaviour with my site as well.

If you use the preview function while editing an entry you'll notice it complains about not finding a file : page_.php.

I suspect a bug, but I haven't ruled out a hack either.

Some debugging info I was able to dig up via the preview function.....

You could install extension PivotX Tools (http://extensions.pivotx.net/entry/28/pivotx-tools).
That has an option to check the integrity of your install.
And I seem to remember that a flat file install has some options to rebuild indexes. You could try that too.

You did remember to clear the cache (through config of PivotX) after the upgrade?
Quality is in the detail of things............

@pdubois95: Rebuild the indexes after upgrading - example.org/pivotx/index.php?page=buildindex

@kangoo: Clearing the cache and rebuilding the index is probably smart after upgrading, but the missing entries got me thinking. You haven't also upgraded PHP to 5.4? If so, read this forum thread. If you are still struggling, you'll have to turn on PivotX debugging to see what is going on.

Hansfn, yes, there was a problem with php 5.4, indeed. Now it works. Thank you!

@hansfn
Clearing cache and rebuilding indexes was the first thing I tried. Your hint as to a problem with php 5.4 however sounds like that's the issue. Trying it out right now.....

Confirmed - PHP 5.4 is the source of the problem and the forum entry listed by hansfn above fixes the issue.

Thank you @hansfn !
