Image Popups with Fancybox

Postby Stark Raving » Sun May 25, 2014 12:49 am

I have a number of pages on a website and would like to have the images on some pages open into fancybox. But how do I do that? I looked at the documentation and guide, but the codes seem geared for a list of images as records that I put in template files. How do I create different records of specific images for individual pages?

The url is http://paradoxdesigns.ca/page/misc. I have a number of smaller images on the page that have links to the larger image, but do not open in fancybox. The fancybox codes are in the header, and the trigger in the footer. I am running the latest version of Bolt.

If this can't be done, is there another way to do it?

Thank you.

The rel_id parm is meant for that. If you specify the same value as for another image then those images belong together; specify a different value then not.

Sorry, Harm, I don't understand. Are you refering to the id field under the image properties advanced tab in the image editor? If not, where do I find this rel_id parameter? Or information about it?

Thank you.

I mean the documentation that goes with extension Fancybox.
There are a lot more possibilities then only can be set through the button in the editor........ ;)

If you read that documentation you will see this example:
Code: Select all
[[popup file="2010-01/image1.jpg" description="(thumbnail)" rel_id="group1"]]
[[popup file="2010-01/image2.jpg" description="(thumbnail)" rel_id="group1"]]
[[popup file="2010-01/image3.jpg" description="(thumbnail)" rel_id="group1"]]

You can either add those rel_id values after you have added the popups through the editor or type in the whole tag from scratch.
If you go through the documentation you will also see how you can add Youtube and Vimeo movies and Flash files for example.

Harm, are you saying I can use PivotX code in Bolt?

The Bolt editor doesn't have an option to insert a popup. Even if I go into the source and enter the popup code, it just displays the popup code as... well... a line of text.

The base-2013 header.twig states that fancybox is used in the backend, so I figured all images would just automagically open in fancybox when selected. On hindsight, I realize that wouldn't make sense, because if a person were to select say a website logo to go home, how annoying if it were to instead open as a fancybox slide. The base-2014 header.twig seems to have no more reference to fancybox. Also, I am using another slideshow on the home page, but maybe that is interfering? Sorry, I am rather confused about how to manipulate images in Bolt.

Cheers, and thank you for all your help.

This is the so many time that I miss the fact that it is a Bolt question....................... :?

I am very sorry but my advice was for PivotX. Maybe someone else has the solution how to use Fancybox in a similar way within Bolt?

Thank you Harm. I thought I was losing my mind. Well, I might well be, but thank you for responding. I know you and everyone else is busy.

Cheers
