PHP Frameworks in the future?

Just wondering, since utilizing PHP frameworks (such as Codeigniter, Cake... etc) could mean greatly reduced development time due to focus on the actual feature instead of core functionality/bugs.

It also means being able to ride off on other large(r) communities and being able to take advantage of their expertise etc. Maybe a possibility for PivotX 3?

I have no objections to using frameworks in general, but it would require a complete rewrite (which is likely to introduce a bunch of bugs). In addition the bugs we have is mostly related to the logic in PivotX (which a framework won't make an easier to handle). We do already use many components from other projects so we do indeed benefit from the work of others. (Example: PivotX switched to Smarty as the template language and dropped the home-grown stuff.)

So, speaking for myself only, I don't see a new version of PivotX using some framework. However, if someone sits down and does the work, we will of course evaluate it.
