PivotX 2.2 beta 1
MySQL database

upgrade issue

Immediately following the upgrade there were no entries displayed. The pivotx dashboard notified a MySQL database problem and pointed to the database configuration page.

I did not change any database settings, returned to the dashboard and everything appeared to be normal again. The message on the dashboard was cleared, and entries are showing again. No other problems encountered since.

Hey Wim, We noticed that earlier too, but I thought we've solved it.

What happens is that something in the code that updates the database is throwing an error. That's why it's gone after the first time.

I updated to PivotX 2.2b1 as well and encountered the same db-problem. However, this is fixed easily by switching to Configuration > Database and back to the dashboard again.
Another problem, I've encountered is the disabling of all Jquery functions I built in my website. Anyone who knows how to deal with it?

After commenting out the flock() function in lib.php (where it still says: "// todo: handle errors better." :( ), it seems to work fine on my install with MySQL, mulitple weblogs etc. Initially I get the database error as well, but I guess that already has your attention.

  • Commenting out the flock call is strongly discourage since we can no longer guarantee that the configuration files aren't broken/corrupted. (But you know this.)
  • The ""// todo: handle errors better." comment isn't related to flock at all (if you thought so). It's a comment to the case when a config file isn't writable and PivotX just dies ...

Yes, I know that, but right now it's the only way I can get it to work. Maybe I should point out here that the problem is with the hosting company, not with PivotX...

Pieter: Why aren't your own jquery scripts not working anymore? Did firebug give any info/errors? Is it online somewhere so i can take a peek?

I seem to have a database problem as well.
When I want to make a link, it does give the pop-up. After submitting a link is being made. But when I open the entry again after saving the link is gone.
Next, the entries are gone. MySQL gives a error. After repairing the table everything works again.

This problem somehow seems to be solved. So probably it was my database not being nice to me instead of Pivot
