How do new users register to login?

How do new users register to login? I can't see a [Sign Up], [Login] nor [Register] anywhere.
Can this be enabled in a Template so guests can sign up to create their own accounts?
In the admin panel there is a place for registered users, so I'm guessing there must be a way?

May have answered my own question:

register_as_visitor_link

Inserts a link to the 'comment user'/'registered visitor' page. The valid parameters are linktext and linktext_logged_in (which is the link text displayed to a logged in visitor).

You are right that you answered your own question. Several themes have this link incorporated into their entry template where you can enter the comments.
