I would be happy with a basic notice. That way the user can decide if they wish to continue. :)

For that you can use the cookie control extension mentioned before, that is quite easy to integrate.
Example is on http://www.ambientblog.net (lower right corner).

The only problem with that example is the corner flash seems to be permanent. The one posted by Bob seems a good option as it clears from the design. This cookie law is a bit strange and annoying. It drives me mad. :)

I have made something that might be useable. It is not completed but I would like some feedback, if this is the right direction. What I did was to take my extension slidingpanel and adapt it for this purpose. The docs are not updated yet. But what it does is this: In the admin panel you should enter a text-message (e.g. "This website uses cookies") and a text for the confirmation button (e.g. "OK, accepted").

Then call the extension somewhere on the page. When the page is loaded the panel will appear with the message. If the user presses the confirmation button, a cookie is set and the panel will not appear in the future.

I had it loaded but it appeared at the top. No style applied and cross image missing.

In the admin-panel of the extension you should the name of the css-file to be used. Then you may edit this css to your liking.
